GLOBAL STREAMERS TURN WORLD GAMING DAY INTO A GLOBAL FIGHT FOR CANCER SUPPORT WITH LA ROCHE-POSAY USA ON DISCORD
PR Newswire
NEW YORK, Oct. 22, 2026
NEW YORK, Oct. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — During World Gaming Day today, La Roche-Posay will host a new edition of its Gaming For Cause livestream campaign where top gamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins will partner with the brand for the second year in a row. The event centers around a 24-hour Twitch livestream that unites gamers, streamers, creators, and medical experts from around the world along side the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) to raise awareness and funds in support of skin cancer prevention, detection, and supportive cancer care. Through gameplay, live Q&As with doctors, and community engagement audiences can donate, participate, and learn, all while supporting an important cause. With $230k USD raised in 2025, this livestream charity event is coming back for 2026 to continue raising vital funds and lift awareness for the physical and mental battles faced by cancer patients and their caregivers.
To extend the audience reach of the campaign, La Roche-Posay and Discord are co-creating a Mission Quest where fans can watch Ninja’s Gaming For Cause Twitch livestream directly on Discord while interacting alongside their community. Mission Quests are a premium Discord ad format where brands like La Roche-Posay become part of the experience. The Gaming For Cause Mission Quest will enable Discord users to interact in real time during epic moments and rally around the cause without ever leaving the Discord platform.
“Our co-created Mission Quest shows how beauty brands like La Roche-Posay can connect with Discord’s highly engaged gaming audience by bringing fans directly into the moments they care about. Mission Quests transform passive viewing into rewarded, interactive experiences, giving fans new ways to participate in real-time with their core communities. The Gaming For Cause Mission Quest we developed with Beauty Co-Lab and L’Oréal brings this experience to life, enabling fans to join Ninja’s livestream alongside their friends and communities while supporting skin cancer awareness, prevention, and care.” Andrew Abbott, Director of Agency Development at Discord.
We know that 2.1 Million new cancer cases were diagnosed in the US in 2026.1 80% of patients will experience adverse skin reactions because of their cancer treatments.2 Almost 50% of cancer patients experience severe skin reactions due to radiation treatments.3
Given these facts, La Roche-Posay aims to generate widespread discourse to educate around the importance of supportive care during cancer treatment.
The Urgent Need: Statistics That Demand Action
Cancer remains a global challenge, with 1 in 5 people developing the disease in their lifetime. Beyond medical research into prevention and treatment lies a widely overlooked challenge: the painful dermatological side effects of cancer therapies. Over 80% of people undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or immunotherapy experience severe skin toxicities (extreme dryness, burning, and rashes). These debilitating symptoms often force them to decrease or interrupt their treatments. Raising funds and awareness is crucial to ensure that people living with cancer receive the necessary supportive care they need.
“I’m hyped to be back with La Roche -Posay for another year of Gaming for Cause. My battle with melanoma is a constant reminder of why early detection is so critical. We proved last year that the gaming community has the power to make a massive difference. This year, we’re leveling up, spreading vital skin health awareness even further and showing the world what it truly means to play with a purpose!” says Ninja.
Alongside Ninja, an elite lineup of international creators will mobilize their communities to show that the global gaming community stands united in the fight against cancer. Joining the livestream for the first time this year will also be leading dermatologist and avid gamer, Dr. Dylan Greeney. Dr. Greeney is a board-certified dermatologist and digital creator with a combined following of over 530,000 across TikTok and Instagram. Focused on cosmetic dermatology, he is passionate about boosting patient confidence and empowerment. Beyond his clinical practice, he actively engages audiences as a content creator on Twitch, bringing a fresh perspective to modern dermatology.
“I’m excited to be part of Gaming For Cause because it brings together my passion for gaming and my work as a dermatologist. I see firsthand how early skin cancer detection saves lives, and reaching a younger generation of gamers with that message is an incredible opportunity to make a lasting impact.” Dr. Dylan Greeney, Board-Certified Dermatologist
A New Edition for Bigger Impact
In 2025, Gaming for Cause raised $230k USD for UICC, Melanoma Institute Australia and a network of eight local NGOs from around the world dedicated to skin cancer prevention and Detection.
The funds support a range of skin cancer prevention and awareness projects around the world, including:
- In the United States, over 1,400 skin cancer screenings have been delivered through The Skin Cancer Foundation’s Destination Health Skin 2026 program, resulting in the identification of over 500 suspected skin cancers, including 27 melanomas between April and June of this year.
- In Brazil, SAS Brazil carried out more than 4,000 services, including more than 1,000 skin cancer screening exams and 23 cancer diagnoses.
- In the United Kingdom, Macmillan Cancer Support has helped over 200 people affected by skin cancer through the Macmillan Support Line and its team of Cancer Information Nurse Specialists.
- In Australia, more than $10,000 was collected for Melanoma Institute of Australia, which has been directed into the organization’s melanoma awareness and education work, core to reaching more Australians with life -saving information about skin cancer prevention and early detection.
The full results of Gaming for Cause 2025 will be shared later this year.
For 2026, La Roche-Posay and its partners aim to go beyond skin detection and prevention and work also on supportive care. As more than 80% of patients develop skin side-effect from cancer treatment, this is an important issue to tackle.
As last year, all proceeds raised during the Gaming For Cause 2026 broadcast will directly fund global cancer organizations on the ground.
“We are thrilled to renew our partnership with La Roche -Posay for another edition of Gaming For Cause. Building on last year’s incredible momentum, this unique collaboration will continue to break barriers, reaching vital young audiences with essential messages on skin cancer prevention and detection, and supportive cancer care. The funds raised this year will further expand our global network’s ability to act, proving once again that innovative advocacy leads to tangible, possibly life-changing results.” said Cary Adams, CEO of UICC
“Together, we are forging a new path in the fight against cancer. With over 20 million new cases diagnosed globally each year, there is an urgent need to accelerate support and funding for cancer prevention and supportive care. Through Gaming for Cause, we are bridging the worlds of oncology experts and highly influential content creators to amplify awareness, reach new audiences, and raise vital funds for this crucial fight.” said Alexandra Reni – Catherine, La Roche-Posay General Manager
“At La Roche-Posay, our mission has always been about more than skin. It is about improving quality of life for people facing challenging skin conditions, including the skin toxicities that can arise during cancer treatment. True skin health goes beyond aesthetics. It is about providing care, comfort and confidence when people need it most.” said Grace Riggenbach, La Roche-Posay General Manager, U.S.
