Skydance Vascular Secures U.S. Notice of Allowance for Retractable Needle Catheter Delivery Apparatus

USPTO allows all 15 claims, bringing the company’s portfolio to seven granted and allowed patents across the U.S., Europe, and Japan

DELRAY BEACH, FL, UNITED STATES, September 22, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Skydance Vascular, Inc. announced today that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued a Notice of Allowance for U.S. Patent Application No. 18/362,622, titled “Retractable Needle Catheter Delivery Apparatus.” All 15 claims in the application were allowed without modification.

The allowed claims protect an integrated catheter insertion device where the catheter is housed inside and advanced through a needle designed to fully retract into the device housing. The claims also cover an integrated proximal connector with an angled side port that advances the catheter tip past the needle. In the reasons for allowance, the USPTO patent examiner noted that none of the more than 20 prior art references of record disclosed or suggested the claimed combination.

The application expands Skydance Vascular’s Retractable Needle Catheter Delivery Apparatus with Side Port Tubing family, which introduces dedicated side port functionality to the company’s core “through the needle” platform. A counterpart patent has already been issued in Europe, with a related application currently under examination in Japan.

• Retractable Needle Catheter Delivery Apparatus: Covers foundational “through the needle” catheter delivery paired with full needle retraction. Includes U.S. Patent Nos. 11,197,980; 11,529,498; and 12,496,434, two granted Japanese patents, and pending applications in the U.S. and Europe.
• Retractable Needle Catheter Delivery Apparatus with Side Port Tubing: Integrates side port delivery channels. Includes this newly allowed U.S. application, a granted European patent, and an active Japanese application.
• Next-Generation Catheter Delivery Enhancements: Covers proprietary mechanical refinements, including a needle-retraction countdown mechanism, blood magnification features, advanced seals, and targeted fluid-flow controls. Published internationally as WO 2026/096249 (PCT pending).
